Josie Bahen is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. She received her Master’s Degree at Western Illinois University in 2017 where she studied Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Josie has experience working with a variety of diagnoses and symptoms including: depression, anxiety, panic attacks, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, and eating disorders.
Josie uses a combined approach integrating:
Person-Centered Therapy: Josie works to create a safe, empathetic environment where clients can feel empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Josie utilizes CBT to help clients explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through this approach, she assists clients to recognize unhelpful, fixed thought processes and integrate healthier coping skills and increase their self-compassion.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Josie incorporates DBT to help with teaching emotional regulation skills, distress tolerance, and healthy interpersonal skills.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Josie utilizes EMDR to help clients process past traumas and adverse life experiences in order to achieve lasting healing and relief from trauma symptoms.
What she offers:
Josie believes in meeting clients where they are and working in a collaborative nature to help them explore past trauma and future healing. She understands that therapy can be a very vulnerable process and works to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.
